ƆKWAHUHENE IN KYEBI
The paramount chief of Kwahu Traditional Area Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II graced the occasion of the grand durbar organized at Kyebi by Okyenhene Amoatia Ofori Panin to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the death of Okyenhene, Nana Ofori Atta I.
Yesterday was an historic day at Akyem Abuakwa as Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II Kwahuhene and Kwahuman joined his cousins in the Akan polity to celebrate the legacy of Nana Sir Ofori Atta I.
Ɔkwahuhene’s entourage included Ɔkwahu Hemaa Nana Abena Gyamfuah II, chiefs from the Mpraeso, Pepease, Tafo, and other wing chiefs from Abene.
Okwahu, Akyem and Asante once again exhibited that what unites us as a people goes beyond the modern Ghanaian state.
As Otumfour Osei-Tutu II alluded, most Akans, Kwahu inclusive all trace our common ancestry to Adanse.
In selecting the delegation to accompany the Kwahu overlord, the benkum division led by Nana Ampadu Daaduam of Mpraeso was chosen because they are Asona and are brothers; traditional to ɔkyeman also an Asona.
The chief of Atibie Kwahu an Oyoko who occupies the Gyaase wing was part of the entourage. History tells us the people from Atibie were originally from Asante and the kwahu state elevated them to Gyaase because of the special bond between kwahu and Asante.
