Global Entrepreneurship Network-Ghana will join over 150 countries across the world to celebrate the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), the world’s largest program to celebrate and promote entrepreneurship.
The GEW is to intensify efforts aimed at strengthening Ghana’s entrepreneurship ecosystem to drive job creation and economic growth.
A statement issued by the Network, said the Entrepreneurship Week will unleash innovators and job creators who will launch startups that will bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
“GEW-Ghana will connect entrepreneurs, students, educators, aspiring entrepreneurs, NGOs, non-profit organisations, development agencies, government officials, etc. to participate in a range of activities which will be conducted by partner organizations to harness the spirit of entrepreneurship culture in Ghana,” the statement said.
“From 14th-20th Nov, 2016 over 20, 000 partner organization are planning more than 30, 000 entrepreneurial activities that directly engage more than 7 million people worldwide”
Slated national signature events will be:
Ghana Inter -Political Parties Dialogue on Entrepreneurship Development which create a platform for political parties to share their plans and perspectives on fostering entrepreneurship including social enterprise development in Ghana through policy and programs.
The program will be attended by business leaders, development partners, heads of trade associations, academia, civil society leaders, social enterprise leaders and representatives of political parties. Each political party will pitch their plan on developing entrepreneurship and social enterprise working to improve business policies and to help solve wider government and societal challenges.
Entrepreneurs 2 Schools 15-18th Nov.2016:
The event will bring identified social entrepreneurs from various industries into schools across the country to inspire, coach and mentor young people on the need to start their entrepreneurial activities from school. The identified entrepreneurs will share their social entrepreneurial journey and experiences with students on how they started, the mistakes they made, how they identified their social mandate, challenges they faced and how they dealt with those challenges in starting and growing their enterprises.
Business Connect Night: 18th Nov. 2016:
The event will bring together entrepreneurs, cooperate executives, public sector leaders, government officials and diplomats to network and share ideas. The event will feature speed-networking, keynotes on business in an informal and entertaining environment.
Entrepreneurs Walk 19th Nov 2016:
GEW 2016 will partner with Joy FM Drive Time to host a walk up the Aburi Mountain with entrepreneurs. #GEWWalkWithLexis will bring together some 500 (social) entrepreneurs to exercise to get fit, network and socialize.
