The extremely unfortunately outburst by President Trump describing African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as “shithole countries” has caused global outrage and attracted condemnation from many African leaders including Ghana’s president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The US ambassador to Botswana has been asked to clarify if Botswana is part ofthe countries the US President considers as “shithole countries”.
The AU has issued a statement to condemn the statement and the former president of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has also condemned the comments.

Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has also waded into the condemnation describing President Trump’s statement as extremely unfortunate.

“The language of US President Donald Trump that the African continent, Haiti and El Salvador are “shithole countries” is extremely unfortunate. Ghana is certainly not a “shithole country”. We will not accept such insults, even from a leader of a friendly country, no matter how powerful.”
