Female Ridge Hospital doctor dies after Monday night Accra floods


News reaching us indicate that a female doctor at the Ridge Hospital Dr Aya Hayfron who disappeared after the heavy downpour on Monday night in Accra is feared dead as he vehicle was discovered abandoned after the rains and flash floods. Her friends and family reported her missing after she failed to return home.

Dr Aya Hayfron was said to be returning home from work when she was caught up in the floods.

Her friends on social media had earlier circulated posters of her with contact numbers across various platforms mainly Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter in an attempt to get information on her whereabouts.

We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Dr Aya Hayfron while we urge those in authority to find a lasting solution to solve the perennial destructive nature of the Accra floods.

We will remember that on June 3rd, 2015 over 150 people lost their lives in the twin fire and flood disaster when the Goil Fuel Station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle caught fire.

UPDATE: We’ve been made aware that Dr Aya Hayfron 32 is medical doctor at the Ridge Hospital and not the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. We’ve also been made aware that her vehicle was found in a very precarious state but her body has still not been located. We will keep updating readers as new information trickles in.
