Charlotte Osei lacks credibility to head EC – Ayariga

The chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei’s obstinate attitude in the wake of the disqualification of 12 presidential aspirants from contesting the December 7 polls, is an indication that she cannot be trusted to credibly manage the 2016 elections, Hassan Ayariga has said.

“If I have to tell you the truth, I don’t trust the EC,” the beleaguered presidential nominee of the All People’s Congress (APC) told Accra-based Joy FM Wednesday, adding, “she is not straight in doing their things.”

According to Ayariga, Mrs. Osei’s predecessor, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, commands more credibility.

Mr. Ayariga, who is among the 12 disqualified presidential aspirants, posited his disqualification was illegal and that Mrs. Osei told a “big lie” when she stated that he could not correctly fill his nomination forms.

The EC on Monday disqualified 12 presidential aspirants including Mr. Ayariga over nomination form filling anomalies.

The EC explained that it was unable to accept Mr Ayariga’s nomination because he did not “provide evidence on his statutory declaration as to his hometown or residence in the constituency as per the legal requirements.”

“Charlotte Osei’s assertion that I was unable to provide my residential address got me upset,” he said on October 12, 2016 on Starr Chat hosted by Bola Ray on Starr103.5FM.
