Beginning 2019, Teachers within the Kwahu East District will benefit from an incentive program.
Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Bryan Acheampong said the district would pay special attention to the professional development and economic wellbeing of teachers as the District forge ahead to progress.
He made this revelation at a gathering of students, teachers and traditional leaders at the Kwahu Tafo Senior High School during the school’s Speech and prize giving day.
Mr. Acheampong stated that teachers were the key change agents needed for the acceleration of the transnational development he yearns for, thus his tenure of office as an MP would ensure that the teachers in Kwahu East become pivotal in the development agenda of the district.
“Nana chairman, we have a project for teachers, at the center of all these is to get the teachers to teach and have a big heart to do so well. We know the difficulties that teachers and lecturers go through in this district. Every day I meet them and sometimes it’s difficult to comprehend but I have to extremely appreciate what they are doing with the little that they have to do with”.
Speaking on development of teachers, the MP explained that that he is committed to rolling out the program by end of 2019
“[And] I assure you, a few years ago the District Chief Executive, then the NPP communications director developed a document that defined an incentive package for teachers in Kwahu East District, now that I’m MP and he’s DCE, When we’re done with infrastructural projects, hopefully by end of 2019 we’re going to roll out an incentive project for all teachers in the District. This is a promise that we’re making and this is a promise that I bet you we’ll keep”. He said amidst applause.
Hon. Bryan Acheampong added that the program will motivate teachers and reward their hard work in the classroom.
