BREAKING: IGP charges BoG & Bank Directors to implement June deadline for new Bullion Vans

The Inspector General of Police Mr James Oppong-Boanuh in a meeting with the Governor of Bank of Ghana and other bank directors in the country has charged then to put measures in place to ensure the safety of Policemen and other persons on guard duty during the transportation of bank notes.

This directive comes after several incidences of bullion vans being attacked by armed robbers and officers on guard duties being shot. Yesterday a Lance Corporal Emmanuel Osei on guard duties on a bullion van was shot dead together with a bystander at Jamestown in Accra in a broad daylight robbery involving armed men on motorcycles popularly called Okada.

IGP Meets Bank Of Ghana, Association of Bankers

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh has met with the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BOG), Dr. Ernest Addison, Executives of the Ghana Association of Bankers, and Managing Directors of banks in Ghana to discuss further solutions to minimize the risks associated with moving cash in the country.
