Alumni of University Hall kick against attempts to convert KATANGA into a mixed Hall

In the absence of a universally agreed upon definition of Terrorism, suffice it to say that any act or call for indiscriminate persecution that deliberately targets innocent people; whether committed by individuals, groups or states, can fairly constitute an act of Terrorism.

As an institution birthed in the bowels of democracy and scholarly academic prudence, it is the expectation of all that the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) must face up to its institutional responsibility
to advocate and advance human-based, democratic and moral position with regard to policies, especially when naked terrorism is being sought to be perpetrated under the guise of administrative enactments.

We the ALUMNI of KATANGA, herein collectively referred to as FELLOWS, are horrified by overtures being made by authorities of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to, effective next academic year, commence admission
of female students into the University Hall; a Hall that has, for close to six decades, been an exclusively male Hall and has, for all intents and purposes, painstakingly carved for itself an illustrious and enviable culture forged purely out of dynamic masculine camaraderie.

It must be understood, with no shred of equivocation, that what the administration of the school, spearheaded by current Vice Chancellor, Prof.Obiri-Danso, means to do, in principle, is to bulldoze a carefully and thoroughly thought-out residential policy that has stood the test of time, throw all sanity and legality to the dogs and
trample unfairly on our cultural heritage for no justifiable reason.

It must, however, be stated, for the record, that our primary motivation for speaking to this unfortunate issue is not necessarily anchored on any personal gain that we seek to make, nor even for the sake of any political correctness and piety on our part; but our concern is borne purely of our sincere conviction of what true and prudent administrative proactivity is, and what we should stand for as a people.
